Reimagine Open Spaces in Isla Vista

There are more than 20 parks and open spaces in Isla Vista. These areas are one of Isla Vista's greatest features, and help make our community the amazing place to live that it is.

With the realities of living on the Central Coast that — coupled with a rapidly changing climate — is at high risk of drought, we need to work to ensure that our water use fits this reality.

Working to make our parks and open spaces more prepared to withstand unpredictable rain patterns through transitioning to drought-resistant landscaping, and converting some areas to zero-water-use spaces like skate parks and other community features will help ensure that IV's parks remain treasured assets of the community for decades to come.

Any plans to alter existing spaces will be made with extensive input from the community, the Isla Vista Recreation & Parks District, and the Isla Vista Community Services District.
